Exploring the world of software development, technology, data science, and life

Goodbye 2020

2020 was a crappy year. Citation: everything. But it’s a new year, and one of my resolutions is to start blogging again. After updating a bunch of a plugins and stuff here, I’m hoping no one hacked this site during my leave of absence. Because there were probably a few security vulnerabilities left open…

Anyway, no software/computer stuff this weekend. Right now is about celebrating a the start of a brand new year. Hopefully one that will suck less.

But let’s take a minute to acknowledge some stuff that didn’t suck in 2020. Namely music. Lots of artists had some extra free time during the year, and while some of them wasted it singing along to an old Beatle’s song, others actually produced some quality tunes. There were some long awaited album releases, such as The Ocean’s sequel to 2018’s Panerozoic 1: Palaeozoic or the first Blue Öyster Cult album in almost 20 years. And others were tracks recorded by groups isolated but brought together by technology.

And of course there were a few deaths this year, including Eddie Van Halen and Power Trip’s Riley Gale.

Here is my playlist of songs coming out last year, along with two tributes to the beforementioned lost voices.

Also since it is not available (as far as I know) on Spotify here is a great cover of the Dio era Black Sabbath’s Falling off the edge of the world.
